Title:  Maya
Description:  Initial weight: 14.6 lbs.
Goal weight: 9 lbs.
Final weight: 13.5 lbs.
Lost 1.1 lbs. (8%)

Maya has lost a modest amount of weight. With most cats, exercise is a challenge and sometimes there is just no easy way to do it. After losing a little weight, she has become more active, which should help her continue to lose weight. Through the competition we continued to decrease her food intake to try to get the weight coming off a little faster. Keep in mind that any weight loss is good, but she certainly has more to go.

Title:  Lilly Dunlavy
Description:  Initial weight: 18.5 lbs.
Final weight: 13.2 lbs.

Lost 5.3 lbs. (29%)

Neck measurement went from 11.5” to 10”, and waist measurement went from 19” to 16”

Lilly had the most weight to lose of any dog in the competition from a percentage basis. To this point she has lost 29%. This has been done with strict diet and daily walks of 30-45 minutes. When the competition started Lilly’s owner would have to pick her up and carry her home after only walking a block. Now Lilly walks and runs the whole time. She also spend a lot of time chasing birds out of the back yard, which she did not do when she was heavier.

Title:  Grace
Description:  Initial weight: 14.6 lbs.
Goal weight: 11 lbs.
Final weight: 12.6 lbs.
Lost 2 lbs. (14%)

Neck measurement went from 11” to 9”, and waist went from 21” to 16.5”

Grace has accomplished her weight loss through diet and exercise.
Part of her exercise routine is for her to walk on the treadmill. Initially we had her on one food for weight loss, but even though her body form was changing and building more muscle, she was not losing weight. After switching diet foods she began to lose weight. We have also had to increase her goal weight from 10 lbs. to 11 lbs. She looks much better than she did at the beginning of the competition.

Title:  Raley
Description:  Initial weight: 102.7 lbs.
Goal weight: 85 lbs.
Final weight: 84.4 lbs.
Lost 18.3 lbs. (18%)

Neck measurement went from 21.5” to 19.5”, and waist went from 31” to 25.5”

Raley is the only participant in the competition that achieved the goal we set. In fact he overshot the mark a bit by going slightly below 85 lbs. He's now more agile and can jump up into the truck. He has more energy. He gets baby carrots and other veggies for treats. Walks at least 4 days a week and he goes "bonkers" when it's time for a walk.

Rudy was by far the heaviest cat in the competition and has lost the most weight from a total pound and percentage basis of all the cats. He still has a long way to go, but he is looking much better. He gets exercise and a strict diet every day, which has helped him have steady weight loss through the entire 4 month competition. His owner reports that he is now more active on his own.

Title:  Hoss
Description:  Initial weight: 124.7 lbs.
Goal weight: 90 lbs.
Final weight: 99.2 lbs.
Lost 25.5 lbs. (20%)

Neck measurement went from 23.5” to 21”, and waist measurement went from 34” to 30”

Hoss was the largest dog in the competition and had the most pounds to lose. He has lost the most total pounds of anyone in the competition and he made it below 100 lbs., which is a big milestone! Hoss has stuck to a strict diet and a strict exercise routine which included walking and swimming. His owner reports that he has always enjoyed activity, but now he doesn’t tire as quickly. Even though he is not all the way down to the goal we set for him of 90 lbs., he looks so much better than he did.

Title:  Rosie
Description:  Initial weight: 18.1 lbs.
Goal weight: 9 lbs.
Final weight: 14.9 lbs.
Lost 3.2 lbs. (18%)

Rosie was the most overweight, percentage wise, of all the cats in the competition. She has achieved steady weight loss through the entire competition and will continue down this path in the months to come. As with many of the cats, exercise was very difficult. Her owners tried many things like making her walk up steps in the house to eat her food, but Rosie was resistant to anything they tried. Still she has lost a significant amount of weight and is much healthier than she was when the competition started.

Title:  Aries
Description:  Initial weight: 118.9 lbs.
Goal weight 75 lbs.
Final weight: 102.4 lbs.
Lost 18.3 lbs. (14%)

Aries had a bit of a slow start to his weight loss, but really turned it on over the last month. He still has about 25 pounds to lose, but he’s headed in the right direction and will soon be under 100 pounds for the first time in years. His owner reports that he is definitely more active than at the beginning of the competition. He now chases birds outside and the cats in the house. He’s not as exhausted after exercise as he was before he lost weight and he now takes up less room in the boat and in the house. He can fit in the closet now, which is his favorite place to sleep.

Title:  Big Willie
Description:  Initial weight: 16.8 lbs.
Goal weight: 13 lbs.
Final weight: 15.8 lbs
Lost 1 lbs. (6% lost)

Big Willie had a difficult start to the competition. He actually gained weight in the first month, going up to 17.3 lbs. before going down. He and two of the other cats started out on a food that really helped them gain muscle mass, but did not reduce the weight as much as the other three cats. But just like humans getting on a fitness program, it’s not all about the weight loss. Changing the body form and composition is the most important part, and Big Willie has done that despite the modest weight loss. As a result of his increased muscle mass, we increased his goal weight from 11 lbs. to 13 lbs.

Title:  Cinnamon Harter
Description:  Initial weight: 42.2 lbs.
Goal weight: 25 lbs.
Final Weight: 32.6 lbs.
Lost 9.6 lbs. (23%)

Neck measurement went from 16” to 15”, and waist measurement went from 27.5” to 25”

Before the competition began, Cinnamon’s owners were convinced that she was just lazy. She was “a couch potato and all she did was eat and sleep”. The owners soon found out that Cinnamon wasn’t lazy, she just didn’t have a reason to get up off the couch. Once they stated an exercise program, Cinnamon looked forward to her 1 mile per day walk/run. She now runs the entire mile where in the beginning she had to walk most of it each day.

Goal weight: 14 lbs.
Final weight: 18.9 lbs.
Lost 1.8 lbs. (9%)

Neck measurement went from 12” to 10”, and waist measurement went from 24” to 20”

Willie Biggs has accomplished his weight loss mainly through diet change. Initially we suggested that he get down to 12 lbs. but a more realistic goal is probably 14 lbs. He still has several more pounds to lose, but he’s on his way to a healthier life at this point.

Title:  Chanel
Description:  Initial weight: 49.4 lbs.
Goal weight: 30 lbs.
Final weight: 41 lbs.
Lost 8.4 lbs. (17%)

Neck measurement went from 16.5” to 15”, and waist measurement went from 26” to 24”

Chanel started with only being able to make a couple short laps around the park, but now goes on a 1.5 mile walk every day and has even walked in a couple 5K charity walks. She now demands her walk every morning after breakfast. Chanel’s owner reports that the most important thing this competition has done for them it to help them realize what an appropriate amount of food and exercise is for Chanel. She has much more energy now. It has also helped their other dog at home shed a few pounds and it has helped her owner maintain her own fitness program, because Chanel demands to go for a walk every day.
